Estonian Map of Crimes

One of the participants, William, is currently collaborating with his university colleagues on a project aimed at creating a map that depicts every site of Nazi-era crimes committed during the occupation of Estonia. The project is still a work in progress, and at this stage, all content is available only in Estonian, but can easily be translated.

The platform identifies known locations associated with the Holocaust—ranging from concentration camps and execution sites to memorials and cemeteries. Most of these sites feature 360° photographs, allowing viewers to gain a spatial impression of the landscape. By clicking on the 'plus' icons embedded within these images, users can access scholarly information about each specific site and its historical connection to the Holocaust.

This project is important because it helps to document the full geographic extent of Nazi crimes in Estonia, many of which remain underrepresented in public memory. By mapping these sites, it contributes to historical transparency, supports education, and honors the victims.

The map can be accessed via the following link: Holokaustitähised
